Stroud Book Festival Friday 11 November to Sunday 20 November 2016

Curated by authors Jamila Gavin and Cindy Jefferies, the book festival covered many  genres.

We were  joined by so many locally-loved and nationally-respected authors, ranging from Jilly Cooper and Ian McEwan through to children’s authors such as  John Dougherty who said: What a privilege to be part of the first Stroud Book Festival! Another reason to be proud of this amazing town. I’m looking forward to the next one already.”

Sue Limb, writer and broadcaster said: “What a marvellous event and a credit to Stroud - enthusiastic and responsive audiences . It was a real thrill and a privilege to take part.”

Jane Bailey, author said: “Congratulations to everyone on an amazing week! Everyone I’ve spoken to enjoyed the festival immensely.”

Jackie Kabler, crime author said: As a relatively new author this was only my second appearance at a literary festival but I loved every minute and had such great feedback both from audiences at the events and afterwards on social media. There was a great buzz around Stroud all week too - I really hope we can do it all again!”

We also held the first Katie Fforde Stroud Book Festival Contemporary Fiction Competition.

The lucky top finalist and runners up were announced on Thursday 17 November out of a shortlist of seven.  The stories they have penned were fascinating and wide ranging.
