Schools Dance Showcase

Stroud Festival has worked with and supported dancer, choreographer and teacher Marie-Louise Flexen on a project designed to encourage children and young people to dance. Various workshops were held in primary and secondary schools culminating in a showcase performance last year at the Stroud Subscription Rooms.

We are currently looking at new ways to continue to promote and encourage young people to get involved in dance and to see dance as one of the most inclusive and expressive art forms.

Details of future projects will be posted here as they unfold. Ideas and comments would be welcomed from those with an interest in dance. info@stroudfestival.org

COMING THIS AUTUMN

Ballet Cymru returns to Cotswold Playhouse

Thursday 30 November 2017 with ‘The Light Princess’

Featuring ground breaking video projections and
stunningly vibrant costumes The Light Princess is a new
full length ballet from Ballet Cymru, with a new score by
brilliant Welsh harpist and composer Catrin Finch and in

collaboration with The Riverfront Theatre  of Newport.

Using elements of circus and outstanding classical choreography the story draws inspiration from Sleeping Beauty, telling the tale of a princess afflicted by a constant weightlessness, unable to get her feet on the ground, until she finds a love that brings her down to earth.

George MacDonald’s quirky and timeless tale takes on a new life, interpreted in dance by some of the finest dancers in the world.
